Stars including Billy Bragg, Diana Evans, Michael Rosen, Evie Wyld, Mark Haddon, Alex Wheatle, and Dean Atta, have partnered with literacy charity First Story to launch the campaign for National Writing Day 2018, taking place June 27, encouraging people from all backgrounds to try their hand at writing, with the mantra 'Everyone has a story to tell and writing can be a source of pleasure and power'.

Bragg commented 'As someone who was told their only options were to either join the armed forces or work in a factory, I feel very fortunate to make a living out of creativity. My writing was encouraged from a very early age so I think National Writing Day is a great project and I’m very happy to support it'.
